Emotional Roller Coaster Ride (ENG)
August 30, 2020
These past 2 weeks I've repeatedly been saying this to some of my close friends: "It's okay, everyone has their own emotional roller coaster ride during these hard times. Give yourself a break for a while, this isn't easy for all of us."
I said that sentence not only to console them and myself, but it is what it is. It's way too late for us to keep being in a constant denial of things have been happening since March to this final week of August.
Going to the Peak of Shimmering Lights
After reading this on Pandemictalks' Instagram feed, I felt really awful. By God, I feel like punching someone in the face.
Pay close attention here, from every episode inserted into that image, there's an accelerating time span to the number of infections; just like what happened in my Twitter timeline when smart people were discussing the film Tilik several days ago! Insane.
Super-Spreader in South Korea's Coffee Shops
After that, I was exposed to a news about a woman having coffee in a Starbucks in South Korea; who sat for a long time in an air conditioned room - before a confirmation of 50 other people were infected with COVID-19 because they did not use mouth/nose masks and because there was improper air ventilation during their time in that room.
Pandemictalks crafted a thorough study case here. Can you imagine if one of those people affected was one of us?

Individual Coping Mechanism Is Different, Ga...
It dawned on me, oh perhaps this is what individual coping mechanism amidst the global pandemic.
Some people tried so hard to establish their own business while enduring days without any secure job and income anymore. Some tried to contribute the best they could to the company they work for out of gratitude for escaping the layoff list - or for the fact that the company did not declare bankruptcy. Many creative workers started to establish new works of "digital busking" to entertain all of us; where we all could join voluntary crowdsourcing for them. A mutual symbiosis.
Still A Long Way To Go
I tried to remind myself and my closest circles that the journey to get through (and maybe to defeat this pandemic) is still a long way to go. I would not get tired of sounding this daily reminder under different approach and narrative, because the ability to perceive information in every individual is also different. But supposedly our ENDGAME is similar, which is STAYING ALIVE.
That's why i could really understand how there are so many people out there who do not possess the same privilege like myself; I could work from home, still has a secure job and income, still can hang out alternately with my friends, etc. Whatever we can do to strengthen each other, let's do it together.
The easiest ways:
- PUT ON THE MASK WHEN YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE
- MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCING OF 2 METERS MINIMUM
- IMMEDIATELY SHOWER AFTER ARRIVING HOME
- DON'T TRAVEL ANYWHERE UNLESS IT'S REALLY URGENT
- IF YOU DON'T FEEL WELL, DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE
Do you agree that this condition is exhausting? Before the pandemic, all uncertainties in our lives have never appeared this tough. Then... BOOM! God gave us this forsaken COVID-19 - which was pretty baseless, in my opinion. Although I have never been a very religious person, but I believe that God exists. And that religions are dogma, not unlike vehicles for us to make it and arrive at the finish line. I don't really care or know about Heaven or Hell.
Can you feel the emotional roller coaster ride up until this last paragraph? I certainly can, it's nauseating bruh. It spreads the tension from head to toe. Really exhausting.
